Robert L. Ashford

Renowned in both professional academia, and in private practice: Professor Robert Ashford originally trained within the Glasgow School of Podiatric Medicine, and has enjoyed a rich and expansive career, spanning over four decades.

He has recently been appointed as Dean Elect for the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Furthermore, he has secured ‘Emeritus Status’ from Birmingham City University which he was employed as Director of the Graduate School for many years. The honour was also conferred for his 22 years of academic contribution to the university. He is therefore the first Podiatrist in history to achieve Emeritus Status!

Robert has served within numerous educational institutions and universities across the UK and worldwide, including: Queens University of Belfast, Birmingham City University, Middlesex, Derby, Staffordshire, Brighton, Universidad Complutense De Madrid, Helsinki Polytechnic, Glasgow School of Podiatry, Northern Ireland School of Podiatric Medicine and more. His roles but to name a few have included that of Professor of Podiatry, Senior Lecturer, Head of School, Director of Post Grad Research Degrees, Route Director for BSc and MSc Podiatry programmes, MSc Podiatry supervisor and supervision of many PhD/MPhil/DProf research degrees.

He’s proud to have published over 140 research articles within peer reviewed medical journals (many of which are in the area of chronic pain management), in addition to chapters he’s written for medical textbooks.

Robert is a Fellow of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and as Dean of the Faculty is Chairman of its Executive Board. He is also a clinical examiner for the College. He also holds Fellowship of the College of Podiatric Medicine and a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Association. He was honoured in 2014 with an meritorious award from the College of Podiatry, London.

It is our privilege to have Robert providing services in both Clinical Podiatry and Chiropody, and Biomechanical Podiatry (including Gait and Movement Patten Analysis using the OptoGait System, Foot Posture Index Scanning using the Delcam iQube Scanner, and custom orthotic prescription).
