GAIT ANALYSIS &
WE SPECIALISE IN THE ACCURATE DIAGNOSIS OF BIOMECHANICAL DISORDERS THROUGH GAIT ANALYSIS IN WARWICKSHIRE, FOLLOWED BY TARGETED CORRECTION THROUGH PRESCRIPTION CUSTOM ORTHOTICS IN WARWICKSHIRE.
Promoting a standard of clinical excellence in Biomechanical Podiatry within Henley In Arden, Warwickshire. Our Biomechanical Podiatric Faculty is run by Henley In Arden based Specialist Podiatrist, Heidi Murfin.
WHAT IS BIOMECHANICAL PODIATRY IN WARWICKSHIRE?
This is a branch of biomechanics that applies physical principles in the treatment and management of patients with musculoskeletal disorders. It applies both quantitative and qualitative analysis of principally the foot and leg function through observation and examination. During the process the individuals gait is recorded using high speed, high definition cameras and analysed with cutting edge software and technology. Here at the Pain And Injury Clinic, Henley In Arden, Warwickshire, we utilise an OptoGait Scanner, which is one of the top gait analysis systems presently available, together with the Delcam iQube 3D infrared foot scanner.
WHAT IS GAIT AND GAIT ANALYSIS IN WARWICKSHIRE?
Gait is the way in which we move our whole body from one point to another. Most often, this is done by walking, although we may also run, skip, hop etc. Gait analysis is a method used to assess the way we walk or run to highlight biomechanical abnormalities. Gait analysis conducted by a Biomechanical Podiatrist usually involves walking or running on a treadmill.
OUR CUTTING EDGE APPROACH TO GAIT ANALYSIS IN WARWICKSHIRE.
Here at The Pain and Injury Clinic, Henley In Arden, Warwickshire, your Biomechanical podiatrist will record your gait via high speed, hi-definition cameras from various views on a sports treadmill fitting with our OptoGait System. Realtime video, together with data gathered from the OptoGait Scanner will then be relayed to a laptop for analysis, before being sent to a high definition television screen for further visual analysis. This will facilitate slow motion and freeze frame analysis when your gait is assessed by the Biomechanical podiatrist.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO WE USE FOR GAIT ANALYSIS IN WARWICKSHIRE?
In addition to your Clinical Biomechanical Assessment, carried out by our Biomechanical Podiatrists with over four decades of combined experience, the equipment we utilise to assess your gait analysis includes the following specialist technology.
OPTOGAIT DIGITAL GAIT ANALYSIS SYSTEM.
OptoGait is an innovative system for movement analysis and functional assessment of patients looking to remedy or legislate against lower limb complaints. The aim of the system is to objectify the evaluation of your gait, eliminating human error. The system is equipped with an array of optical sensors working at a frequency of 1000 Hz and having an accuracy of 100mm, detecting the relevant space and time parameters for gait, running or other test types. The objective measurement of such data, combined with an integrated video acquisition, allows monitoring of a patient’s condition on a constant basis, detecting problem areas, assessing mechanical inefficiencies and rapidly verifying the existence of asymmetries between the two legs.
It allows the Biomechanical Podiatrist to conduct slow motion analysis, pausing, splitting, angle finding, zooming in, digitising and synchronising two separate videos are amongst its qualities. Its function is to improve the accuracy of the orthotic prescription to you.
DELCAM IQUBE 3D INFRARED SCANNER.
The iQube uses a series of infrared beams to capture a perfect 3D impression of your feet.
The iQube is extremely fast and accurate. It is based on 3D scanning technology developed for the aerospace industry, which allows high quality, full colour, 3D images to be produced in approximately three seconds. The data collected is accurate to within 0.4mm. This ensures that the laboratory can produce a right-first-time orthotic that will put the patient on the recovery path as quickly as possible. It’s the only scanner available that is able to capture weight-on, weight-off and semi-weight bearing scans, essential for the accurate evaluation of foot posture.
WHAT ARE CUSTOM ORTHOTICS IN WARWICKSHIRE?
Orthotics, foot orthoses, or orthotic insoles are specially designed shoe inserts that help support the feet, improve foot posture and correct any imbalances: in other words they help stabilise and correct poor foot posture. We offer custom orthotics / custom insoles / bespoke orthotics based on your individual requirements with the primary objective to correct dysfunctional biomechanics as reviewed in your clinical assessment. The data gathered by your Biomechanical Podiatrist from the Biomechanical Examination, OptoGait Scan and iQube scan is collated and sent to a CAD/CAM lab for the milling or 3D printing of a custom orthotic.
As part of a package of treatment, a pair of orthotics should help to:
Prevent or halt the development of foot deformity
Provide better positioning
Relieve pressure on a certain area of the foot
Improve the overall biomechanical function of the foot
Improve pelvic alignment
Reduce lower limb torsion and knee stress
This allows joints to be aligned correctly and promotes efficient transmission of biomechanical forces.
Many lower limb injuries are caused, at least in part, by poor biomechanics. Through the utilisation of our comprehensive and objective assessment protocol, we’re able to design and prescribe a pair of orthotics perfectly tailored to your feet.
