Paul Godfrey

Paul Godfrey is a highly experienced Chartered Manipulative Physiotherapist, Physiologist and medical performance leader with more than three decades of expertise across elite sport, performing arts and private musculoskeletal practice. Holding a Master’s degree in Human & Applied Physiology alongside advanced postgraduate qualifications in manipulative therapy and physiotherapy, Paul has developed an outstanding reputation for delivering high-level clinical care, rehabilitation and performance services within some of the most demanding environments in professional sport. His career has included senior leadership roles with organisations such as Nottingham Forest F.C., Coventry City F.C., Cardiff City F.C., Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C., UK Athletics and Cirque du Soleil, where he has overseen medical departments, led multidisciplinary performance teams and supported elite athletes and performers at the highest level.

Throughout his career, Paul has combined advanced clinical expertise with strong leadership, mentoring and educational capabilities. He has contributed to published research in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and co-authored specialist literature on lower limb injuries in professional football. Widely respected for his ability to modernise and enhance medical and performance services, he has been instrumental in the development of award-winning departments recognised by the Football Medical & Performance Association. Alongside his consultancy work through Elite Sports Performance Medicine Ltd, Paul continues to lecture nationally on musculoskeletal medicine, emergency sports care and injury management, while also delivering advanced first aid and pre-hospital emergency care training. His approach integrates evidence-based rehabilitation, injury prevention and performance optimisation to support athletes, performers and patients in achieving the highest possible standards of recovery and function.
